Previous vehicles they gave me a new one whenever I bought an oil filter. They were supposed to be replaced. I went to a dealer today to buy one and they told me it was not listed. He said it must come with the drain plug. Do they not get changed when changing oil on a Ram?

What year and engine?

I've never changed the oil drain plug gasket on a Dodge. My current gasket is 15+ years old and doesn't leak, on a 4.7.

Alot of vehicles you have to buy the drain plug to service the gasket. They don't need replaced often.

My experience is American cars have a built in rubber o-ring on the drain plug that lasts the life of the car, imports have a crush washer that needs replaced each time it is removed.
