Did first oil change in the little lady's E350 at 13,000 miles. Drain plug had next to nothing on it.

Filter looked like this:

Inside of the filter mount looked like this:

Under the oil fill cap, I saw unstained Delrin guides, clean chain, and unblemished head casting.

I think the days of FF coming out a black extrude hone at 1000 miles is long over.

Welcome to another heated debate on whether to dump factory fill early or not.

My answer is still the same: do whatever helps you sleep better at night. Your car won't care either way.

Why, QP, whatever are you talking about!?

No evidence that it hurts to leave it in, but IMO getting material from assembly and early break in out of the engine sooner rather than later is a good idea. No evidence that it helps either.

My new Camry recommends every 10k miles but I changed it out early at 5k miles and I'll let Toyota do the next one at 10k miles.
