ADBV soft and pliable. No tears.

Any grit in the pleats is likely from my workbench or the hacksaw I used to cut off the top. Those last three shots were difficult to get clear on my phone. The pleat wasn't torn, but it looks like it was starting to fray a bit. For some reason it appears that those pleats near the crimp are put under extra pressure or something which causes them to deform a bit. Just fuel to add to this fire, I suppose.

Next time I'll have a PL14610 from a 2012 Civic 1.8L and a PSL14477 from the Camry again. Both when they hit 5,000 miles. I'm interested to see how the synthetic filter comes out. Given that this is my first time cutting open a filter, and there definitely appears to be extra stress at the tear points, I will be moving on from the PureOnes.

Glad to see they're not tearing anymore

The synthetic filter will be fine. It's a different, more robust, design. They do not tear. Plus, they're often on sale at Kmart.

I was hoping you'd post a good one, my eyes are getting weary of the carnage.

Another popped off end cap, and all the pleat issues which lead to tears in some of their filters. So much for Puro getting it's act together in late 2014, this early 2015 filter displays all the ho-hum mediocrity the brand is quickly becoming best known for.

Exactly. All the signs of a filter that could tear. Thanks for the C&P.

Yeah, the end cap fell off immediately after I pulled the filter our of the can. Wasn't really sure what to make of that. It looked fine, but I would have rather seen it stay on.

Does anyone have the Fram Ultra model/part numbers for a 2012 Civic LX 1.8L and 2007 Camry LE 2.4L? They look pretty darn robust and I'd like to give them a shot when I take the current filters off of my cars.
