First off, this isn't my car, pulled it from facebook from a car group that I am in, same make and model as mine. The owner seems like he doesn't know much about cars other than driving them. it seems he broke a timing belt, and citing expensive repair costs. He didn't mention it, but his valves are probably toast.
He posted 2 pics of the valve covers off ,and I am showing them to you guys.
Looks like heavy varnish, and the valve cover looks like some mild sludge.
The piston looks burnt, as you can see in the pic.
Also odd, one of the rocker arm is clean.
What are your thoughts ?

The rocker, maybe part of a bent valve repair hoping that the piston is okay.

The sludge can be cleaned up and maybe the owner can try changing the oil once in a while.

OCI too long.

Shiny new part.

Should have replaced the timing belt on schedule!

most pistons look like that in a perfectly normal car, at least from what you can see in that picture.

I have never seen "burnt" pistons, I'm not sure what you mean by that though.

Pistons always seem to keep going, seen bent rods(1 time only due to water getting into the combustion chamber), bad crankshafts, bent valves, but have yet to see a piston that wasn't reusable during the rebuild.
