ABB - 110 years of turbocharging

There are some dubious claims in there.
The 1931 Cummins diesel race car I thought was supercharged, not turbocharged. Cummins 1952 pole-winning car is most often claimed to be the first turbocharged car to run at the Speedway.
The 1978 Mercedes 300SD was not the first turbocharged passenger car to reach production. GM had the turbocharged Corvair and the Olds F85 in the early 60's. They also introduced the turbo 3.8 Buick Regal in 1978. They should have said first turbocharged diesel passenger car.

But anyway, turbocharging is cool.

Neat video. Claims aside, ABB knows industrial stuff. Perhaps the DJ was data mining for the rest.

The Olds was cool because it used both a turbocharger and water/alcohol injection to maintain a compression ratio of 10.25:1. 215 cubic inch V-8 engine with 215 hp.

Even more cool, because that was an Olds-produced version of the Buick 215 block with Oldsmobile-designed heads (bigger valves, better ports, wedge vs hemispherical, 1 more bolt per cylinder circle than Buick). The core of the Olds version of the engine went on to some success with the Brabham F1 team, and of course the Buick engine without the Olds heads was sold to Rover and became a legend in its own right.
