Buddy Baker announced last night on SiriusXM Nascar that he was retiring due to lung cancer. I was seriously crushed, I loved listening to all his stories on my drive home from work. I thought it was so great when a younger driver was on and Buddy would tell them all the great things they did and encouraged them to keep at it. I am really going to miss hearing him.

I liked his stories about the "ol days". He talked about one race at a high speed oval where he was so far ahead that he was told to let up and take it easy. He did, and his lap times dropped 3 seconds. He said he learned that day that he was trying too hard and was over driving the car. He said he finally believed that driving smooth and steady was the ticket to success.

I did not know he was still alive. (GLAD he IS!)

But sorry to hear this news.
