I cut it open because the can was dented at the top dome-end, so I didn't want to use it. There was no way to tell whether the can was usable without cutting. The date code is A50053, not sure how to decode it, though! Sorry for no pic of the date code, but I cut right in the middle of it, and it's hard to see anyway. At least I remembered to get it before cutting!
A few thoughts:
The pink media color is awesome, but Fram seems to have cheaped out on the quantity, as the media cartridge was rather short (and to think the 6607 is half the size or less!). Purolator's 14610 filters give you more media with a taller cartridge. I have never used a Wix in this size (1356/7356).
The spring thing is weird. A black dot with a few clips on the other end, coil/leaf hybrid. The dome end of the filter it attaches to is fuzzy, lined with gray felt. The spring stays put and fits snugly inside the filter.
Why does the thread end of the filter have those nubs? It made it hard to get the filter out of the can!
The filter smells like dukee inside.
Also, would you have used this filter in light of the dent but not knowing it was structurally sound after all?
OK, here are the pics!
