The Timing Chain S-Series Saturns shear down Dino oil, but not quality Synthetic.

My UOA Proof:

* 5w-30 AC Delco Dino sheared to 8.12 in 4,010 miles.

* 5w-30 Pennzoil Ultra stayed in grade at 9.77 in 4,104 miles.

I have a UOA from my SL1 using Delvac 1300S that was still at 13.68 cSt@100°C after 3400 miles. It's a 40wt, but worked really well for me for a lot of miles on that car.

Hey Camprunner - We haven’t heard of or seen any data supporting the claim that motor oil might break down faster with sophisticated timing chain systems. Hope this info helps! – The Pennzoil Team
