A friend has a 2001 ford escape and when it rains hard the sun roof leaks due to one drain hole being clogged (passenger side). They tried opening it up with a wire but it did no good. Any ideas as to how to get this drain hole unclogged to stop the water from coming in?

I like to use pipe cleaners then air for blocked drains - if they pushed a wire down but didn't solve the issue then either A) they didn't go far enough, or B) it's blocked at the bottom.

If rodding from the top you need to check from the other end that you're going all the way through.

4 pair cable works well. Steel wire isn't good. You could puncture the plastic tube. Also the drains in the rockers maybe plugged with debris from the cowl.

We cleared the stopped-up front sunroof drain tubes on daughters' Lexus and Jetta (a week before she totaled it) with a can of compressed air. We put the can's straw in the drain hole, wrapped a small piece of wet paper towel around the straw, used a small screwdriver to pack and seal the paper towel against the straw and drain hole, then gave a couple of blasts and cleared the drain tubes. Could hear the water draining out. Got the can of air in the computer section of walmart. It's used for cleaning dust from keyboards and electronics.
