Mazda 6 / Atenza 2.3 Any good? L3-VE

Hi all,

Currently looking at purchasing a Mazda Atenza (Japanese import to New Zealand, known as MAzda6 in most markets) with a L3-VE NA Engine 2002 with abot 75K miles on it.

Any major faults such as stretched chains prevalent in this engine model? (I've heard the Turbo MPS version of this engine is prone to his) Anything else I should look at in particular before making the purchase?

My conclusion was to watch for rust issues and we are going to look for a 4 cylinder with a manual transmission.

The Ford 2.3 is a good, time tested engine no worries there IMO it would be the other aspects of the car to research.
