Gf and I went hiking at one of the south Texas lakes last weekend and it was crazy hot and humid here!

I moved as a kid to Seattle from Hawaii in the middle of 6th grade. I started going to school at Seattle, WA Greenwood elementary. The difference between the school in Hawaii, and Greenwood was a very stark difference.
Between the weather difference, and the school feeling like an inner city wire fenced asphalt playground was a huge culture shock. That being said we went on a field trip for an overnight at Fort Flagler park. I'll remember that for the rest of my life. Have not been back there.

Do they still have the barracks? I did not know you could camp with trailers there. I have been camping with a friend on Lopez Island on Memorial day over the last few years.

Very cool pictures, and it sounds like you had a great time. We are very lucky to have such nice parks in this state.

Nice place. I tent camped there with my cousin for a week and really enjoyed it. Very pretty town to visit as he is now well rooted into there.

oilboy123, Why haven't you been back?

Lots to do there. Hiking in the old artillery placements is fun!

There are three coastal bases right here. Ft. Worden, Ft. Flagler and Ft. Casey. They formed a large triangle.
14th Coast Artillery

Camping really is good family bonding time. No internet, no video games just hanging out together.

Camping is great family time, especially in mild PNW weather.

You might want to check out Fort Stevens near Astoria. Oregon parks are always beautifully maintained and this one has an ocean beach, old coastal gun batteries, a ship wreck and plenty of kids and play space. Great memories.

Love Fort Stevens. I have been three times. We are headed out to Grayland this week.

Nice!! We do day trips to Ft. Flagler, used to more often when the kids were younger. Love all the old NW fort camp areas. We will be at Fort Stevens for a week in August. Relaxing is what it is and will be.

Good question? I was last there in 1973, or 1974

The barracks and housing are still there! You can rent them.
