How do you buy your pepercorns? In a paper bag?? Besides we don't have landfills here we send it up in the air to alter the climate.

good point

My "domestic niner" discarded my grandfathers pepper grinder. It was a family heirloom. Made of wood, with a really heavy duty grinder.

It had some advantages over grinders today. The feed ramps to the grinder were quite large and would accept large peppercorns. This large grinder is essential when using pepper other than typical black pepper or "tellicherry" pepper. As some "pepper mixes" contain a certain peppers that are considerably larger in diameter and won't feed correctly.

So, I always search for a "real" pepper grinder that can handle a mix.

I'd either go with the Cole and Mason Derwent or the Unicorn Magnum. The Unicorn spits out the most per twist but the Cole and Mason has the most uniform fine grind and easiest grind dial.
