Long story short, my exhaust pipe fell off right where it attaches to the manifold. Will I hurt my 2004 Honda Civic if I run it that way? I will get fired if I drive my 2000 Dodge Stratus with the paint literally falling off. And my 2005 Civic... Dont ask. I have no money to fix it. Will running it hurt my engine? Will I actually gain power? I do not care about the noise.

If the open exhaust is pointing toward something that can melt or is flammable, then that's a problem. I'd be concerned about the exhaust wafting in to the cabin. It routes it to the rear and away from the car for a reason.

Can I run it this way for 2 weeks until I can afford a new pipe
?

Where do you work that a car with no exhaust is better than a car without paint?

Get one of those $8 flexpipes and put a clamp on either end. The pipes look like dryer vent.

Do you have a friend with a welder, you might be able to patch it so at least the leak is minimized, or diverted

Problem: You have three cars and can't afford to fix them.

Solution: Sell two of them in order to obtain sufficient money to fix the third.

The pipe fell off. There is a large gap. Not a small hole. Will this hurt my valves?

Tell 'em you borrowed it while yours is in the shop. It is possible to burn the exhaust valves. While the injection may compensate for lower back pressure by adding some fuel I doubt you'll notice anything more than your low end torque going away.

Crazy idea!

You seem quite focused on "gaining power" when you can't even keep your cars maintained. How far is it to work? Bike, public transport, etc, until you can actually afford to keep one car working properly.

All these posts almost seem troll-like. Getting fired for bad paint? Really? Let them fire you then you can sue - that's the American Way.

^further evidence that this guy is quacking like a troll. I mean, really? Who has luck like this? GHT or CarN00bie?

I do not care about the way the car looks enough to pay $150 for a junkyard hood.

Is it a cast manifold with a separate downpipe? Or 'headers' I think you guys call 'em, we call em tubular manifolds..

If the former you need to fix it, if the latter it should be fine (apart from the noise and the codes from the 02)
