2009 KLX250SF 351 big bore

I'm wondering what type of engine oil to run in my big bore 351. Thank you !!

What viscosity and ratings does the manual call for? I'd imagine you'd want a 10w40 like Mobil 1 4T.

I'd recommend Mobil 1, 10W-40 MX4t motorcycle oil. It's generally available at WalMart and it's good stuff. In fact, one of the Motul oils in the same viscosity has specs so similar, I suspect it's the exact same stuff at twice the price.

If you are thinking that some other oil will provide significantly longer engine life or some other such nonsense, forget it. M1, MX4t is among the best oils mankind has ever produced.

Change it regularly and enjoy your ride.

Manual calls for 10w-40. Doesnt say anything about synthetic or not or blend. I went with dino Shell Rot 15-40. A good friend said it has treated him well in all his bikes. Thanks for your input!!!

That is a good choice, in my opinion. The dino 15W40 apparently shears less than the synthetic 5W/40, so that is a plus. Just don't extend the OCIs too long....
