just had a transmission oil change using ATF MV SP

Made by Kendal. This is not the toyota pink stuff. So should I worry? The mechanic said this was toyota approved. Also heard not having toyota atf was not a good thing for the tranny?

any thoughts, advice from those who know would be really nice.

also the mechanic/ owner a good one and honest.

You can check the Kendal web site to determine the answer to your question. If you want the Toyota pink stuff, you take it to the stealer and pay the price. FWIW

My b-I-l has a 2004 Corolla with 245K.
I don't know what kind of service it had before he got it at 140K but I used Castrol IMV ATF in it and it's running great.
(it's been changed twice in the past 100K)

Toyota T-IV is nothing special IMO and several aftermarket ATF's should work fine if the ATF manufacturer recommends it.

Rule of thumb.....Use the oil... and ATF... that the engine maker recommends. You can't go wrong by following that rule.
