Do you actually mean "push" mower as in not self propelled?

Then there is the lowest priced Self propelled:

Honda says it does not make special mowers for Home Depot and the ones you buy there are the very same as you get at an independent dealer. At least around here most of the John Deere dealers sell Honda mowers since JD got out of walk behinds and will do deals comparable to HD which is to say $50-100 off MSRP depending on model.

I here people saying not to buy MTD. What exactly is wrong with them, because it seems that beside Husqvarna everythingelse sold at big box stores are made by MTD.

I've been checking out push mowers, IMO I would save $ 100+ bucks and buy this one over the Honda.

I have the Craftsmen rear bagger front wheel drive and notice on FLAT ground it really doesn't not want to pull with the front drive when the bag starts getting half way full. Use have to help it along by pushing some...my rear drive Toro does not do that at all.

They're cheaply built, have chinese engines, and won't last as long as a higher quality unit. When something breaks, they pretty much made to throw away and replace rather than be repaired. That being said, millions of people use MTD mowers and they work just fine for them.

Okay, Then as their good son, you can instruct your dad in the basic maintenance required to keep a new mower new.Reading the owner's manual and all that. A steel deck is fine if you keep the under side clean.

I had a Honda for over 15 years and then bought a Toro Personal Pace Recycler.
Well, the Toro only lasted 9 years with 8 years of use.
The trans died.Maybe a freak thing but I'm back with Honda.
Bought a Honda HRX217HYA last week.
