I've cut these open some weeks ago.
No surprises on the 2011 vintage Purolator L14459 after the 4 month service. I used SM PYB 5w30 with some Lubromoly Motor oil saver (which didn't do much). I believe there was some "carbon coking" collected on the pleats (please comment on that). I measured 97.5 sqin for the pleat area and 61 pleats. I think they could have used a smaller can, or more filter material.

The 2014 Purolator L10241 was used as a transmission filter for 8 months and 11k miles with 90% Valvoline Maxlife ATF. It was the first filter the 114k transmission saw, and as you can see it collected a lot of material on the metal parts of the filter, including the areas behind the filter element. Maybe the metal end caps ungluing themself from the cartridge had to do something with it (what's up with that?). The 50 pleats of filter media measured 92.75 sqin, quite a dissapointment.

No tears on either filter.
Thanks for looking and commenting.

I've added a remote spin on base along with a cooler.
