My car takes 4.25 qt of oil and I added 4 quarts when I changed the oil (individual quart bottles), but a few weeks later I thought I panicked and added the fifth quart, and now the dipstick reads way over! 1996 I30 (Maxima) VQ30DE, oil is GC/BC 0w30

There is an oil leak, so if it's too much, then it won't be for long. But until it leaks out, it won't do any further damage, right? The valve cover gaskets are totally shot

With engine oil it's not preferred, but not enough to lose sleep over. If it was ATF, it's be a bigger problem.

Not sure. What's the price of tea in China?

Both questions have about as much to do with the topic as the other.

You shout try to get it correct. And if you can correct it you should. Anyone trying to guess how much is too much is doing just that, guessing. Why guess when you can correct it?

That's a very mathematically straightforward question, Merk.

But, I wouldn't try to do it with inches and gallons.
