Own a 91 Honda Civic Hatchback Si

The hood on my car will not pop open.
Cable is fairly new.

How can I get the hood to pop open?

I'm hoping that I don't have to damaged the hood to get it to open

on my Hondas, the rubber gasket in the front of the hood was stuck to the bottom metal,
will the cable move and disengage the lock?
have someone pull it and watch it from the front with a flash light.

Find another one similar to yours, and get a look at the mechanism with the hood up. You may be able to snake a hook made with a coat hanger in from underneath, and pull where the cable connects.

I had to do this with an old Peugeot. Wound up taking a headlight out, because there was no finding another Peugeot to see how the mechanism worked. Persistence is your friend. And.....Don't put the hood back down, until you have the mechanism sorted.

Update:
Pulled hood latch and held it up with a wrench.
Walked over to the hood and pushed it down, heard a clunk and the hood popped up.

I then noticed my wire crimper positioned between the fender and the edge of the hood.

That was the problem. I left my crimpers under the hood...

Problem solved.

I went ahead and lubed the latch mechanism with Lithium grease
