It does sound like that could be the cause. When I change the oil and start it up for the first time you can hear all the bottom end bearings running dry for about 2 seconds. It sounds like that but just on one of them.
The filters are Ryco Z9s which I have always used, and I had this slight knock on the last oil and filter. Can't rule out a dodgy batch but I'll try cut this filter open and [censored] the innards and look for any filings that might give something away.
It started up silently late this morning with an ambient temp of about 11c/52f
