I use/used Tungsten Disulfide to coat bullets, and looked into it for the sake of curiosity to add to engine oil. The product doesn't stay in suspension that well and settles out quickly which is why it is not used much or at all as an oil additive. I went so far as to speak with a company that makes and sells the product. It might also settle out and collect in the bottom of your oil pan.

MoS2 was a better choice because it stay in suspension much longer than Tungsten Disulfide.

There is a such a thing as tungsten ammoniate that is soluble in oils.

However, I would not use any AW additive in powder form in anything but greases.

Personally, I would leave the addition of metals as antiwear additives to the engineers developing the additive packs for the oil companies. Too many possible ways for it to go wrong, when done as a DIY project.
