Yeah it looks pretty good. Only thing that concerned me was how much the oil sheared. It sheared to almost a 30w oil didn't it?

After 3000 miles in a healthy engine, any oil would have given positive readings.

Not true when the engine is making almost 700hp. Only ran it for 3,000 miles because I wanted to see how it held up, seems like it sheared pretty bad. Currently trying Redline 10w40

All oils shear.

For engine power levels, wear ppm is nil.

Try a SAE40. And, depending on oil temps, 50 and 60 grades are an option.

RP HPS can be found in 20w50, along with XPR in 10w40 and 20w50.

It will be interesting to see how the Redline performs.

Yeah I'm going to be sending off the Redline shortly, I'll post the results to compare. Will a 5w40 oil shear more than a 10w40?

Redline 10w40 HTHS 4.4
Redline 5w40 HTHS 4.4
Redline 15w40 HTHS 4.7
Redline 0w40 HTHS 4.0

I would want to support the opinion that the narrower the grade, the more shear stable it could be. But, this will depend on VII/VM used and base oil choice. HighTempHighShear is similar between the 5w and 10w oils.

If you compare the motorcycle 10w40 to the auto 10w40, you might notice the difference.
10w40 Redline Motorcycle HTHS 4.7 compared to the 4.4 auto oil.

So if the street 10w40 doesn't cut it, motorcycle 10w40 and diesel 15w40 could be tried.

UOA looks great. I'd only use a 50wt oil in this car. If the Redline works well I'd bump it up to Redline 5/15/20W50.

About the shearing,my car sheared RP 20W50 down to a 10W40 within 3200 miles.

I was thinking the Redline 5w50 at first too bit I read this engine only needs a good 40wt oil. And the only reason Ford recommended the Motorcraft 5w50 was because it would shear to a thick 30wt after a few thousand miles. Said that a true quality 5w50 like redline or Amsoil would be too thick

I've heard a lot about Royal Purple oil shearing so I'm not too surprised there. Pretty sure I will have better luck with the Redline 10w40

I wouldn't buy into the internet forum myth as to why Ford specd 5W50. I would stay with the recommended 50 weight spec.

Jumping around from brand to brand and running UOAs isn't doing you any favours, either.

This is only my 1st time trying a different brand. I've only run Royal Purple since I've owned the car, just wanted to try something else

I see. Have you run other UOAs on those, too? I'm guessing that fuel dilution wasn't much of a problem. Blackstone doesn't measure it directly, and given your flashpoint, I'm guessing you were okay, but that's just a guess.

Currently have another RP HPS 10w40 sample in the mail waiting for the results. Fuel dilution on this sample was very low if any

Going to try Redline 5w50 after i try the Redline 10w40 and see which one produces better results. I already have the Redline 10w40 sitting around for the next change
