I did a CEL cover with a Gummout decal.
That doesn't work if you have to have a bi-annual smog test.

Buy a cheap scanner off ebay
if you had a Dodge minivan you can cycle the key and display the code on the dash. Thought that was pretty cool.

Yup, and you can;t just take the bulb out either. Part of the test is to make sure that the light comes on and off when starting the car.

I know you are kidding but it will be little difficult to design your own circuit behind the OBD2 DLC so that DMV's scanner will be happy!
