My FILs F250 LD with the 4.6 Mod motor has a no start issue, culminating in the starter clicking, but not starting. I have not had a chance to look at it but suspect the solenoid is shot.

Ebays application system doesnt recognise F250 LD and as such will not tell me if a listed brush pack will fit.

Will this

or this fit?

How about this made in USA.

Yep, just put in an F-150 with the 4.6. It's really the same truck as an F-150 but with a little heavier suspension and the goofy 7 lug axles.

Got the solenoid, Bendix and brush holder from a local rebuilder for $70. Brushes were worn out, at the end of their travel. Starter is back together and going back in after a quick break.

Not at all. Cleaned it up with 320 grit and cleaned between the bars with a 90* pick.

Starter works great now.

In the day and age of throw away parts its good to see someone else going against the grain. I always rebuild my starters. 9 times out of 10 a starter only needs a set of brushes or maybe a solenoid or a plunger. I'd rather spend $50-75 bucks rebuilding my OEM starter than to go buy a POS reman that is bound to leave me hanging at an inconvenient time. With that being said, you do have to watch where your getting your rebuild parts from. Some eBay sites are OK but some sell the same throw away junk that's being put in the remans. I buy my altenator and starter parts from my local parts house, its an independent store and he is very picky on what he stocks. Consequently he is higher than many of the chain stores but you almost always get what you pay for. His clientele includes many of the local construction companies, farmers, township and county road dept, and local gear heads that simply want good parts.
