Hi, believe it or not I purchased a 2006 chevy 3500 box truck. Drove it home about 70 miles all highway. After exiting the highway at the first stop, the engine reved but wouldn't move, eventually the torque converter kicked in and it took off, smelled a little (tranny smell) drove it another 5 miles to my place. No indicators no error lights.

Got out and ATF had blown out the dipstick tube all over the passenger side of the engine. Looked to me like the dipstick blew out? In reading it looks like possible over fill, bad seal, clogged vent.

My question is how much damaged do you think it may have done to tranny? I can refill fluid and test, but if the tranny is screwed, not sure I want the truck?

Any thoughts or help would be welcome.

Go back to where you bought it from and get some answers!

Or return it!

Maybe plugged vent .
Pressure forced dip stick out .
Just a guess but I would sure return it to seller .

Try: automotive tranny pukes

It could be anything from minor to coolant leaking into the transmission. Return that truck fast!
