Been several intentional wavy media filters posted here before. Purflux for Renault/Peugeot use that design in both spin on and cartridge filters. Don't know if it's 'better' or just different.

Without seeing the application, and 'I could be wrong' but I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say that one would be a reboxed/rebadged OEM filter application using the Fram name. They do that for several low volume selling filters. The Kia OEM Mahle made cartridge is one such example.

Without seeing the application, and 'I could be wrong' but I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say that one would be a reboxed/rebadged OEM filter application using the Fram name. They do that for several low volume selling filters. The Kia OEM Mahle made cartridge is one such example.
If it sells enough eventually they bring it in house.

^^^^Ah Fram-'Europe'. It appears Fram Euro filters are made by Sogefi Group which also makes the Purflux filters noted in my first post. That would explain the similarity of wavy media design.

The filters for my 03 Cavalier ecotec originally looked like that. Now they are all regular pleats.
Careful with that filter. If you use it too long, or get a bad one, the wavy bits will straighten out...
