Use Dana 44HD open Spider Gears instead trac loc?

Hello,
is it possible to simply replace the spider gears from a Dana 44HD trac loc in a ´97 ZJ with open diff spider gears?
To specify it a little more.. using this kit instead of this one without further changes?!

I think you need an open carrier. so no.

Iirc it won't work. There's 2 lunch box lockers,one for an open diff and another for a trash loc equipped one so I'll assume some things different.

As others have stated, it won't work. The Aluminum 44 in the ZJ is also a C-clip axle.

Would you still drive with those pieces missing in the spider gears?
Currently I'm unsure whether I should replace gears with new ones, buy a used Dana 44 (check if it's okay first) or keep on driving with those spider gears and save the money (probably for the trans viscous aka misconstruction, I hate it).

The ring gear looks fine. I would replace the spiders and motor on.

If its the rear I would replace them with a lunch box locker.

That's what I will do besides changing the TL plates.

A locker needs an open differential, which would cost much more.
