I need to replace a hose in the evaporative emission system for '04 Sienna. It is just a short length (from the test port to the engine) and I was thinking of getting vacuum hose from, say, Advance Auto. Will that suffice or do I need to get the expensive hose from the dealer?

It should work.
If it doesn't, you can always get the expensive hose from the dealer.

Look for some small diameter fuel line like they use on lawnmowers and small engines. It will hold up to the gasoline vapors better.
Vacuum tubing will work but wont last very long.

Better to use fuel or emissions hose. Beware the overall diameter might be more than stock. SAE30R6 should do ya.

Thanks! I'm going to buy some 5/16" fuel hose. In the meantime I cut off the ends of the bad hose and stretched what was left into place.
