Oil can drive you crazy, but I tried this is my special, 81 dirt track replica, street legal Camaro. Running a 1970 350ci LT-1, 11:1, flat tappet, 400+HP. Cold oil pressure @ 2000rpm=50 psi. Hot oil pressure, @ 2000rpm=46 psi. I think that says a lot! Just changed my BMW M roadster over to the same stuff.

Something does not sound right. You are telling me that the oil pressure changes by only 4 psi when the viscosity is going from a cst of 75 to a cst of 13.5 when hot?

How about an oil pressure reading at 3,000 , 4,000, 5,0000 & redline ? With that information then we might be able to know something about the oil system. Two readings @ 2,000 don't tell much. (Even for a Chevy)

In comparison, my cold oil pressure at idle in my small block Ford 289 HiPo with the same Mobil1 0w-40 is 80 psi. Hot oil pressure at idle is 66. My pressure relief valve is set to open at 95-100 psi. Oil pump is Melling HV.

Sorry, didn't notice I posted in the diesel section, but I was trying to point out, that with the 0W-40 M1 it seems that the oil pressure is pretty even, from cold to hot. Thought maybe the viscosity spread might have helped? Didn't track the pressure before on 15w-40 or the 10W-30 I tried before, but never noticed the pressure staying that constant before.

still curious,
