ATF+4 question

Admittedly I know nothing about ATF.

I have 2 Dodge Rams that are way way overdue for trans fluid and filters. Obviously I will use ATF+4 fluid, but it's there a difference in brands? Are certain brands recommended vs others?

One trans is a 545RE and the other is a 48RE.

No. All ATF+4 fluid meets the full spec. Your trans will not know the difference between SuperTech, Valvoline, or Advance.

ATF+4 is the most tightly controlled spec for an atf on the market, if you get an actual approved fluid on the licensed ATF+4 list then it's literally identical fluids with identical additive packages and a handful of very similar base oils from specific suppliers.

As the others have said, they are essentially all the same. Just make sure that you obtain a proper listed fluid and not something that is "recommended" or some similar potentially misleading wording.

I order Valvoline from amazon six quarts for 36 and free shipping not half bad.

You can get Super tech at Walmart for $4.27 per quart. That's $25.62 a case plus tax. Probably the best deal around for ATF+4.

AAP had Castrol at $4 per quart last spring, but since then I havent seen anything close to that with the exception of Autozones clearances. ST ATF+4 is by far the best every day price.

You could probably buy a couple cases at aap with the good coupon codes and make off with a good deal too.
