More info , I used a low temp 160F thermostat for about 9000kms on this oil, and about 6300kms on the previous oil. The high wear could be caused by the metals not expanding enough. Current fill is now shell helix ultra 5W-40, and will re test at 10000kms. Now a stock 180F thermostat is in and in next UOA if wear metals drop, then it could be traced to the thermostat temp.
So far engine still not burning oil and no smoke from tailpipe.
I hope by using this low temp thermo, I did not cause irreparable damage to the bearings and cylinder walls.
Another thing was the mechanic took the oil sample a little early, he took it about 2 seconds into the stream.

I agree with your assumptions...

15,000 KM is an extremely short Amsoil run. I am almost approaching that with my current fill of QSUD!

Change out that thermostat, that is causing the wear for sure.
