Bulk oil off spec in NJ

Yet another reason why I'll only use name brand oil and change it myself. I remember a few years back Super Tech gear oil failed some kind've test. Can't remember exactly what though. Cars cost way too much to skimp on something as cheap as a few quarts of oil.

In some ways true.

Some engines tend to be tougher to take a beating on, but most DI'ed or turbo'd cars-might be a bad thing....

True, but here, it wouldn't fly. The major distributors market aggressively enough, and the fly by nighters just aren't around. The bit about high Canadian oil prices is simply something caused by Walmart Canada and Canadian Tire. Here, places like Imperial Oil, Shell Canada, Husky Oil, Petro-Canada, and Wakefield can make sure a shop gets a very, very good deal. Where we do see the garbage oils, their prices aren't very good.
