I am quite overdue for some ATF fluid service. I have an automatic (sadly) Subaru Legacy GT , so it has the 5EAT transmission. I read a lot of people like the AMSOIL fluid, but I believe they were referring to the Signature Series. Has anyone had experience with the OE Multi Vehicle Formula?

Accidentally ordered that, it seems to meet the Matic J spec that I need. I am not sure what the OE series is meant to accomplish. Less premium, but still 'premium' ? I am sure it is a fine ATF, just seems unpopular / new?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Less PAO and more GroupIII with similar performance at a more competitive price.

Group III ATFs work great. PAO needed for extremes.

Fair enough. Factory fill is non synthetic anyways. Car has moderate power but not modded at 400 WHP (that might kill the auto trans). Occasional track days should be ok.

Seems like a decent fluid then.

The OE Series is OK to flush the old ATF out, but Signature Series is needed with it's higher PAO content as an enhanced synthetic to take the heat on track days.

The OE fluid will shear more quickly, so more frequent drain and fills are needed if you stay with it over the Signature Series full synthetic.

I think we all agree that Signature Series is likely the better choice of the two, but it seems that OE might be inadequate for even an occasional track day?

I have the Subaru ATF in there now, whatever that is.

Got it, I might as well just wait out and get some signature series. The distribution center is in my city, wonder if I can just drop it off there

.

35 dollars and more time probably worth the extra protection.

Only thing I have consistently seen about Subaru ATF-HP is that it's not synthetic. Beyond that, I haven't seen much.

It's supposedly decent, but so mysterious. Non dextron rating threw me off for sure (wish this car were manual

Anyways, I performed the flush. 12 quarts in 12 quarts out.

You can see a decent color difference. Transmission feels great and shifts well. Unsure if it is placebo but it feels better. This is likely the first time the transmission has seen a synthetic.
