Last year, I paid good money for an Alpinestars Cape Town Drystar jacket.

Unfortunately, the micro velcro that Alpinestars used on it is worthless. It won't do much of anything at this point.

Outside of having the low-bidder supplied micro-velcro removed and paying someone to stitch on something else that will last more than a year, do I have any other options?

Is it typical for micro-velcro to do this so quickly?

Not typical. My Olympia jacket velcro is going strong.

Check with the manufacturer on warranty. Otherwise only option is new velcro.

Same thing on my Tourmaster Air Intake 3 jacket after about 3 years. Unfortunately unless the manufacturer wants to warranty it, your only option is to remove it and replace it. I'm going to replace mine with some heavy duty 3M Velcro.
