Centralized, large operations are touted as models of efficiency; However the drawbacks are now becoming obvious.

Small and decentralized is good for weathering interruptions;

This is true for power generation also.

The link provides a good example of why you should not put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

One of may favorite expressions: He who controls the food supply , controls the world. It is just a matter of time till someone really grasp the concept....
 
It's too bad they didn't show pictures of what 5 million laying hens in confinement cages looks like... Instead they have a pic of meat turkeys?
I guess when you select genetics and feed and confinement for maximum efficiency with little regard to overall health of the birds, the wrong virus will do most of them in anyways.

Unless the TV tells the people to believe it . The concept will not be grasped.

These chickens won't go "down the drain" at all. With the FDA's blessing, they'll just get used in pet foods.
