I was raised on SD40s to the point of hearing
loss right at the turbo pitch whine point.
Why couldn't they put the turbo at the back end
of the locomotive?
EMD rolled out a HHP 4-stroke engine (CP 9300s),
but they were a disaster.
The MTUs in the GEs are also in the BC Ferry fleet.
Good German technology.
The trial and error haulage capacity is how it's
done, except how do you rescue a stalled train
in an 8 mile long tunnel?
