My wife and I are looking to purchase an air purifier. Does anyone have any recommendations?

We have a couple of goals for this- the first is to keep the house from smelling like Chinese food. With this in mind I was thinking to look at the filters which contain a charcoal filter. Beyond this we would just like to reduce dust etc.

Are any brands better than others? I seem to recall concerns about the models which use the ionic filtration method but am not sure if the concerns are valid.

The Honeywells that look like a small trash can are pretty nice, the noise is quiet and subdued as far as that goes, and the consumables are more reasonable than the rest.

I think they recommend replacing the charcoal outer foam every 6 months and the inner HEPA filter every 2 years.

I'd suggest opening the windows, putting a few fans in the open windows and literally change the air. Costs nothing. Another is to deal with the source of the Chinese food.....
