First post after lurking on and off since 2003! Vehicle is my 1994 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L, with 223,000 miles on the original engine. The oil run was through winter, which had a few record-breaking cold days. I use a block heater with a timer so the engine isn't stone-cold for early morning starts. Oil was Penz Plat 5w-30, with a PureONE oil filter. I added 1/2 quart of Meijer full syn 5w-30 at the 3000 mile mark. Blackstone did the UOA.

I replaced this fill with Penz HM 10w-30 and another PureONE for the summer/fall run. I have other vehicles that I use in the warmer months, so this fill will last until it starts to get cold again (something I don't want to think about!) Look at that K&N air filter knocking down the dust and debris!

Only concern was fuel, but likely due to winter idling. Good wear #'s for that mileage and engine. Keep doing.....

UOA looks pretty good overall. As you likely know already the 4.0 puts out a lot of iron. You could try a 40wt, or even a different brand to try to get that figure down. I typically saw low 20s for iron when I had mine, using VWB, ST Syn and Amsoil, and upper 40s using M1, all in 5w30.

We had a cold 2015 winter in the Philadelphia, PA area and my fuel was 0.5%. The oil analysis was from oil (Nov 2014-Apr 2015) on a 2014 Toyota Venza V6. Blackstone did the testing.

Nice. I'm not a huge fan of 5w30 in the 4.0 I usually only do it over winter for a very short interval but this is a good UOA the Platinum did very well.

I really like your summer oil choice, many here have had excellent results with Pennzoil in the Jeep 4.0.

Thanks for posting! Don't wait 12 years to do it again ha ha.

Thanks guys. I'm happy with the Pennzoil, after being a loyal ExxonMobil fan for years. I actually made the change around the time Mopar dumped Mobil for Sopus, 2009 IIRC.

My other 4.0L (Wrangler) is due for a change, it'll receive some Penz HM or Rotella T5 10w30.

Nice report. My wife had a 1994 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0L, and we always had good results with M1 10w-30. She loved that vehicle, and is still a little sad she had to get rid of it.

Thanks for posting.
