I'm trying to put a cheap JBOD together, but I need dual port SAS drives.

Does anyone know who makes the least expensive, enterprise class dual port SAS drives?

Thank you,
Ed

What are you trying to accomplish? How much storage are you looking for? Cheap JBOD and enterprise class dual port SAS usually don't go hand in hand

You can get 300gb ones for about $150. They are HP drives in HP chassis but you can always just remove them from the chassis.

Uh yea thats 2 words that dont go in the same sentance. Cheap and dual port SAS

any reason you couldn't use regular SAS drives?

Not familiar with these kinds of drives but there's seagate constellation es.3, 4tb runs around $250, 6tb around $450. Hitachi has some ultrastar drives, western digital makes RE drives, the hitachi and wd drives are a little more expensive than the seagate.

While some of those might be SAS, dual port SAS are extremely expensive.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't aware there were single-port SAS HDDs.
Everyone buys SAS HDDs because of the dual ports.

You can find HPs on EBay, probably $1 a GB new, $0.20 used.

If just throwing together a JBOD I'd like to know why the need for dual port sas?

just curiosity really.
