Agree!
Plus, you'll use it more often as well for other foods or small meals.

We don't have toaster either, we use a small toaster-oven several times a week for bread and others. We don't use full size oven very often, probably no more than 2-3 times a year.

I think the one we have right now is about 3-4 years old, we bought it at Macy for about $20 on sale. The previous toaster-oven was a littler larger and lasted about 12-14 years. I don't remember how much we paid, probably less than $30-40.

We had a cheap Oster, and now are suffering through what I thought was a decent ($50) Kitchen Aide.

This thing will barely toast one side of a slice of bread.

My goal is to spend less than $100 on a 2 slice model that will actually toast bread to varying degrees of darkness. Lasting more than 6 months would be nice as well.

You can still buy these on Ebay for less than half the price you're willing to pay. Mine (in the photo) was new in about 1949, and other than the plug it's never needed a repair. After more than 65 years it still toasts quite nicely, and has most certainly lasted more than 6 months.

It's a Proctor 1481 and has been in the family since it was new.

That's a beauty. Currently looking at Ebay for something similar.
