Hi folks, im huntung down fluids fir my wifes x3. Its an 08.

i have access to castrol 75w90 amsoil and motul in the same weight. At the same shop i can get motul 5.1.

any issues using these? If i run 75w90 ls to be safe, should that work if its a standard diff? Thanks!

For the brakes any DOT 4 will do the job. As for the diff oil, not . . . Google it.

Believe it or not, if you look at the specs, really nothing can beat Castrol XO/XJ when it comes to flow and cold performance. Given your location, Id guess that's important.

The question for brake fluid is if you need a low viscosity product.

Thanks guys,

I grabbed some Castrol GT LMA Dot 4. I've used it before and it's been great.

I should check to see if I do in fact need the thinner fluid.

I was told by a parts guy I needed a 75w80.... not sure about that. Thinner after a certain point scares me in the diffs.

Castrol XJ is a 75W-90 gear oil; any good synthetic 75W-90 will work in a non-locking BMW diff.

Thanks!, yeah I don't think theyre that picky. I may actually wait to do the diffs. It's got fairly low mileage. roughly 50k. I may end up doing the transmission fluid however, which I think is a Dexron VI
