Replacement Lock?

I would like to install the correct lock into this old Craftsman toolbox. What lock do I need? The mounting hole is 5/8" wide and a 3/4" tall.

Find a similar box at a garage sale or swap meet and put it on that one? Of course that only works if you're keeping the box you have for sentimental reasons.

I don't really want a second box, just a lock. Are there generic locks like that?

A cheaper way might be to purchase a new box.

Try McMaster-Carr they have a variety of cam locks, one might do the trick.

The size you mention sounds like a standard 3/4" "double D" hole.

Thanks, this is the kind of info I was hoping for. Now I just need to figure out the latching distance.

Definitely a cam lock, figuring out what tailpiece might be a challenge.

I bought some locks off ebay that might work for what you want.

Something like this maybe:

You might be able to go to a local big box store and grab a mailbox lock. It might be the same hole with flats. http://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-Product...ds=mailbox+lock

They're pretty inexpensive.
