ID the Engine

I can barely make out six rocker arm lumps (or similarly repeating patterns) on top and the con rods on the bottom. Also six spigots on the exhaust manifold. So, inline six motor.

Any idea if this could be a boat engine? The coast is littered with the remains of small craft and all sorts of things wash up on the beach and the rocks.

Or a Chevy 250 I-6 which was used in boats. We owned a 250 I 6 powered boat for several years.
