2 x 7500 OCIs in Mom's 2004 2.2 VUE.

Squooshed like most Ecotec filters. No rips or tears.

I suggest you take a real good look at the inside of that filter. I have had a couple that had many holes in them. I don't like the way they crush in like that. The centre tube can cut the media on the inside. Like this...

Does your Vue have an OLM? And is 7500 what it suggested?

At least Napa has them on sale this month!

There's also the Mann HU 6007x (a real Mann, made in Spain, as opposed to the ML1015 which is a reboxed Classic) MUCH better quality

The XP is wire-backed media. I don't think the center tube could cut through the wire.

I will cut it apart, unroll it, and examine it tomorrow, though. I'd like to know if the media got pushed through the wire backing anywhere, like happened with the Ultra I tried on Mom's engine.

I thought the XP was wire backed media? If so, it does not seem to have held up very well.

Looks good for the mileage

why some canisters crush all elements is another topic.

I falt the canister not the element in this case... guess im old school and like my spin-ons

Did the center get squashed by your oil filter wrench, when unscrewing it?

You can't really tell by looking, but I can't help but wonder if the capacity of this filter is up to 15k's worth of use.

Thanks for posting!

I got around to cutting it apart. It was a lot more difficult to disassemble than the XG9018.

The unrolled media and its wire backing. Unlike the media in the XG9018, this media actually has strength on its own without the wire:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Three (maybe four or five) little holes, equaling or exceeding the surface area of the one big hole in the XG9018:

I don't know if these were there to begin with or if I did this when I pulled the wire off the media. I'll just assume this is a failure, like the XG9018.

I'll use up the remaining 57082XPs I have, then I'll probably go back to cellulose filters used for one interval only. Both types of "synthetic" filter I've used have failed.

How did the ultra look compared to this? You mentioned how the XP seemed tougher.

Those holes are symmetrical, I'm thinking you did it when you pulled it off the wire. But the Wix XP is not much more than a rock catcher anyway according to Wix.

Seriously quite a bit of junk on the dirty side.
