Both part numbers are listed as OEM for my 02 Montero. Will they both work?
MZ690196 vs MZ690198 are listed as OEM filters

I don't know if the two part numbers MZ690196 and MZ690198 are interchangeable for '02 Montero.
But MANN has 2 air filters part number C32164(L 12.4” W 7.5” H 2.2”) and C34175(L 13.21” W 7.48” H 2.26”) that fit 2000-2002 MB E430. C34175 is 0.8" too long to fit the air box.
I happen to know that model years 2000-2002 E320 and E430 use the same air filter and it is C32164, C34175 is for model years 1997-1999.
OEM catalog is not 100% accurate, you need to verify the dimensions to make sure that either one(or both) will fit your vehicle
