Seriously, who picked those numbers? Why didn't they make it 8,000 km/5,000 mi? Granted 8000 km does not exactly equal 5k miles, but it's close enough and they're both nice round numbers.
I asked myself exactly that. Mileage really isn't an issue to me (we don't drive all that much), but what really burns me is the time requirement. Seriously, five months with synthetic? You could leave your syn in there for a year and 7800 km, and I get the feeling your UOA's would come out looking stellar.
