I own a craftsman AC/DC clamp on Ammeter and it reads very close with Shunted meter.

Certainly higher quality and more capable meters exist, but for checking the amp flow into the battery, the craftsman does the job well.
Make sure to use alkaline batteries inside it, and not NiMH. It takes 2 AAA, and does not come with them
I've no personal experience with other brands of clamp on DC ammeters, just be sure it is capable of measuring DC. Lots of the less expensive ones can only Measure AC.
