This is my new company car and although oil changes are free, I'd like to know what's the best oil for this car seeing that I might buy it for my daughter in a few years. Thanks all

It calls for VW 507 approved oils, the easiest thing to do is go to Blauparts, and get an oil change kit. They will get you a good on the right oil and filter.

TDI --> diesel --> VW 507 oils only

Ah yes! Being in the PCMO-gasoline section, I was thinking TSi not TDi, sorry.

Wow, that VW 507 isn't easy to find. So if I was getting oil for it, I'd go with either Shell Helix, which might be available in stores near you. Or I'd go with Total Quarts Ineo Long Life which you can get from Amazon 5qt for $35 w/free shipping.

vw 507.00 oils are all 5w30, supposedly pennzoil is coming out with a 0w30 vw 507.00 approved oil in the next couple months. Here's a few that you may find at your local auto part stores or dealerships.

pennzoil ultra euro L 5w30
Castrol Professional ll03 5w30 (Factory Fill) mostly found at VW dealerships
mobil 1 esp 5w30
LiquiMoly Top tec 4200 5w30

I order my VW 504/507 oil in 20 liter (5 gal) containers from IDParts. The price works out to around $8 per liter which is about average for this product. I prefer to use Pentosin Super Performance III.

I service several common-rail TDI's so I go through more of it than the average owner and I am very pleased with the performance of the Pentosin. I find less accumulation in the intercooler hose than with the Mobil or Castrol typical flavors.

Blauparts has good prices on their lubricants line but I do not know the quality of the Ravenol brand that they sell. It doesn't seem to be a mainstream product but I have absolutely zero exposure to it. I have considered trying their low-viscosity brake fluid which is the requirement for the Volkswagen cars and they also have the best price on fuel filters that I've seen.

Also, Pep Boys has it.

FWIW the 2015 TDIs now have the oil filter only accessible from below, squirreled in behind several hoses/lines. Anecdotal reports tell of how difficult and messy it is to change the filter.
