I know what you mean. For years, I wore a certain style of Wolverine shoe. The Dura-shock feature was awesome. The only problem is that the soles would eventually crack, but the shoes were so comfortable, I'd always buy another pair. Wolverine finally quit making them, and I haven't found a good alternative yet.

IMO shoes are a personal thing - while one size fits most, Id be careful assuming that what you pick is great for him.

So if you pick something, make sure there isms good exchange policy.

Sport Center, Total Horse, Vicksburg Farm Supply all sell Wolverine boots. Call them and see if they have the one you selected in stock if if they can order them.

I have had great luck with Georgia Boots. Though I think that you should take him to try on whatever you buy. Shoes are something you can't just go buy for someone.

I'm on my feet on a concrete floor all day. I'm a fan of a more "Tactical" Style Boot (like Cops, EMT's, and Prison Guards Wear)
I've been Wearing Bates Boots for Years. (Made by Wolverine)

These ones in particular:

(the Price on their Website is less than i pay Locally, plus Free Shipping)

They Do have Durashock models as well.

I Always Get the 8" Model with the Side Zipper, but they do have a 5" "Mid Cut"(Think High Top Tennis Shoes) and a Regular Shoe Version as well.

I get my Wolverine Durashock boots at Sears. My last pair about a year ago were $120. I had an old pair that the sole split on so I sent them back with the receipt and they sent me a new pair. The newer style has the blue nonslip sole and are very comfortable and last longer than the old style of Durashock. I've worn them for years.

Keen

I work at a factory and literally about half (if not more) of the people on the floor are wearing Keen.
I used to play with different insoles when I had Cat boots (rebrand Wolverine), but with the Keen I haven't felt the need.
They are comfy, and break-in is minimal.

Best thing to do is go to a local place that sells shoes and has someone that can fit it properly. Ordering shoes on the internet is almost always a disaster.

Believe me, if you spend a LOT of time on your feet this is what you want!

They also last virtually forever.

My wife put me on to them years ago. I thought them a bit strange looking at first, but who cares if they are comfortable.

They have long been a favorite (since 1907) for people that work in Kitchens and Hospitals.

There is also a place called the Clog Outlet where they sell cosmetic 'seconds'
At much lower prices.

I go to workingpersons.com, have ordered there several times, wide varieties to chose from.
