Toyota HTHS specification

I've read that, in general, Japanese OEMs design their engines to operate with oils having lower HTHS values than European OEMs. I've not been able to locate any information pertaining to my vehicle's (2001 Toyota 4Runner, V6) oil specifications, other than 5w-30 SJ Energy Conserving. Would anyone know the ideal oil HTHS value for my vehicle, or otherwise the preferred range? 3.5 or greater?

German spec is 0w40 HTHS 3.8 for the 3.0 V6. The Mobil 1 0w40 works well in these 3.0 engines.

Thanks. Would it be likely that the 3.4L V6 here would have the same spec as the 3.0L?
